The Silesian Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry will also carry out sports functions. It will contain sports halls available to the entire university. Modular auditoriums and lecture halls are also being built with the University of Silesia community in mind. The building will have extensive cybersecurity solutions.
The Silesian Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry will be one of the first elements of the Network Science Centre – a project of year-round exhibitions and activities promoting science and studying, addressed to residents of the region and the country. At the same time, the Centre will encourage people to spend their free time, among other things thanks to the designed green roof space with a viewing terrace.
The emerging Silesian Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry combines, most importantly, the Network Science Centre with the idea of Green Science Zone, reaching out to inhabitants. The developments at the Silesian Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry will be expanded to include popularisation spaces (lecture halls, demonstration laboratories). Thus, the Silesian Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry will not only be a place of science, research and experiments, but also a space combining the complexity of reflection on the region and the identity of Silesia.
Śląskie Interdyscyplinarne Centrum Chemii będzie realizować także funkcje sportowe. Znajdą się w nim sale sportowe dostępne dla całej uczelni. Modularne audytoria i sale wykładowe powstają również z myślą o społeczności UŚ. Budynek będzie dysponował rozbudowanymi rozwiązaniami w zakresie cyberbezpieczeństwa.
Śląskie Interdyscyplinarne Centrum Chemii będzie jednym z pierwszych elementów Sieciowego Centrum Nauki – projektu całorocznych ekspozycji i działań promujących naukę i studiowanie, skierowane do mieszkańców regionu i kraju. Jednocześnie Centrum będzie zachęcać do spędzania wolnego czasu między innymi dzięki zaprojektowanej przestrzeni zielonego dachu z tarasem widokowym.
Powstające Śląskie Interdyscyplinarne Centrum Chemii łączy, co najważniejszem, w spójną całość Sieciowe Centrum Nauki z ideą Zielonej Strefy Nauki wychodząc na przeciw mieszkańcom. Rozwinięciem realizowanych w Śląskim Interdyscyplinarne Centrum Chemii będą przestrzenie popularyzatorskie (sale wykładowe, laboratoria pokazowe). Tym samym Śląskie Interdyscyplinarne Centrum Chemii będzie nie tylko miejsce nauki, badań i eksperymentów, ale też przestrzenią łączącą złożoność refleksji o regionie i tożsamości Śląska.
